Mr. Assaf offered to take me to the hospital, which I declined. Maybe I should have asked questions, but my first thought was I have no idea what a foreign hospital is like, and I don't have insurance here, and I'm not hobbling down the stairs to sit in crowded Roman emergency room after the story some of the senior girls told me last year about having to go to the hospital their last night in Rome. I'd rather hop around on one foot, thank you very much.

He said he'd ask again Monday.

Being stuck on this sofa is pushing home the unsettling reality of being alone in a foreign country. I miss my classmates in Assisi very much, and pray they are protected. The same for my friends in the city.

This is bringing out some rather Philly instincts in me. The second I can walk I'm tracking down the guys who stole my phone and punching them in the face.
